...notions of fresh blackberries, wild blueberries and black raspberries with emerging suggestions of cassis, tilled earth, tar and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, the palate delivers firm, beautifully ripe tannins and tons of tightly wound, muscular black fruits with a whole myriad of savory accents and great tension, finishing with jaw-dropping purity and length.
...outrageously beautiful wine. Vivid, rich and explosive, the Nathan Coombs pulses with tremendous energy and raw power wrapped around a core of inky red/purplish fruit. Iron, sage, menthol, licorice and red fruit are all laced together... A whole range of floral and savory notes extend into the clenched finish.
This is a hell of a wine with blackberry, blackcurrant, licorice, slate and graphite on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied, tight and very focused with fine tannins that run the length of the wine.
A menthol note opens up first, quickly followed by steeped plum, blackberry and açaí berry flavors. Sweet bay leaf, singed alder and licorice root notes fill in on the finish, without crowding the fruit, which sails through nicely.
