RATINGS

92Vinous / IWC

Black raspberry, cherry-cola and floral scents are accented by white pepper and Asian spices. Fresh and focused on the palate, offering vibrant red fruit liqueur flavors and a sexy rose pastille flourish. Shows very good energy and lift on the seamless finish, which features silky tannins and an echo of candied rose.

92Wine Enthusiast

A funk of truffle and foresty pine resin is joined by orange peel for an inviting and intriguing opening to this wine that is otherwise velvety, structured and intense. Juicy on the finish, it shares flavors of black cherry and black tea.

91Robert M. Parker Jr.

...offers blacker fruits, more forest floor and complex Côte de Nuits- like characteristics, in a slightly bigger framework than the three predecessors, along with plenty of depth and silky, soft tannins.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
