...structured wine with firm tannins and a dry core...has the rich black-cherry fruit of the vintage.

...nose is dominated by its wood and while it's clear that the underlying fruit is ripe, it's hard to identify the aromas with specificity. Otherwise the velvety, round and sappy medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive mouth feel...

89-91The Wine Advocate outgoing and almost Volnay-like bouquet with copious red cherry and strawberry tart aromas neatly integrated with the oak...medium-bodied with sweet ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit, fine tannin and a pleasant spice-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth.

Some mushrooms on the nose – good mushrooms... Lots of charm. And structure.

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Pommard, Clos De La Commaraine

Clos de la Commaraine is a 9.5-acre Premier Cru Cru vineyard in the Pommard appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. Since there are no Grand Crus in Pommard, the Premier Crus have special importance. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that “Pommard at its best is the fullest wine made in the Cote de Beaune.”

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
