RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

Reduced and savory in gun smoke, tobacco and up-front oak, this wine offers an intensity of concentrated blackberry, currant and lavender, with full-bodied ripeness and power...

95Jeb Dunnuck

...has terrific purity as well as full-bodied aromas of blueberries, violets, mint, and leafy herbs...a cooler-climate style, full body, terrific tannin quality, and a layered texture...

94James Suckling

Lots of dark berries and fresh herbs with currant bush and blackberries. Full body and a solid core of fruit and chewy tannins.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...delivers vibrant red and black currants, blackberries and warm plums with hints of cedar, earth and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied and tautly structured with muscular fruit, the palate is tightly wound with loads of energy and freshness defining the finish.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll

Oak Knoll AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newest appellations, having received that status in 2004. Located on the southern end of Napa Valley, the appellation is close to San Pablo Bay and therefore relatively cool. Of the 8,300 acres within the appellation, 4,150 are vineyards. The principal grapes grown are Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Locals like to call Oak Knoll “the sweet spot” thanks to its location between the San Pablo Bay and its maritime climate and the much hotter climate of Napa Valley’s floor.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
