RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

...displays white pepper, dill seed and lime cordial aromas with an undercurrent of freshly cut herbs. The light to medium-bodied palate is fully dry, crisp and concentrated with a long steely finish.

92Vinous / IWC

Vivid straw. Intensely perfumed nose displays green apple, citrus zest and chalky mineral scents, along with a touch of quinine. Dry but weighty on the palate, with impressive power to the tangy lemon curd and lime flavors. This concentrated but lithe wine finishes with zesty mineral and spice notes and excellent persistence.

90Wine Spectator

Light and silky, with a delicate almond note weaving through the lime, apple and floral flavors, lingering nicely.

REGION

Australia, South Australia, Clare Valley

South Australia is the nation’s most important wine region. South Australia is to Australia what California is to the U.S. About half of Australia’s wine comes from South Australia and many of the country’s most acclaimed producers are there. Wineries based in South Australia include Penfolds Grange, Torbreck, Amon Ra, Henschke and Jacob’s Creek. The prestigious Barossa Valley is located in South Australia, and is often compared to Napa Valley because it is gorgeous topography covered in grape vines. First farmed by 19th century German-speakers who immigrated from what is now Poland, the Barossa Valley is the crown jewel of the region. South Australia has widely varying climates, from very hot, dry areas to cooler, high altitude areas. There are more than 150,000 acres of vineyards in South Australia, with more being planted each month. Shiraz is king, though the region also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Chardonnay and Semillon.

TYPE

White Wine, Riesling

This white variety originated in Germany. It’s known for its strong flowery aromas and high acidity. Please note Rieslings can have dramatic differences as the grape can be used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines.
