David and Juliette both hail from legendary wine industry families; David from the family travel business of Butterfield & Robinson, and Juliette’s father is Jacques Lardière from Louis Jadot, who has been a great mentor. David was granted a "Brevet Professionnel” from the Ministry of Agriculture of France upon graduation in 2003, and Juliette graduated top of her class in Oenology. In 2005 they began making wine under their own label as a micro-negoce, sourcing from some of the best vineyards in Beaune and Meursault.
Les Bressandes is a 50-acre Premier Cru vineyard on the northwestern edge the Beaune appellation, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. Les Bressandes is near the top of the slope. Clive Coates has written that wine from Les Bressandes and neighboring vineyards “have an extra roundness, richness and style” compared with some slightly more northern Beaune Premier Crus.
This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
