96Jeb Dunnuck

...fresh, focused, yet seamless style to go with a huge bouquet of cassis, underbrush, violets, and hints of blood orange. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, has beautifully integrated acidity, and a pretty, pure, graceful profile.

95James Suckling

Aromas of blackberries, pumice and black cherries. Full-bodied, very tight and finely chewy. Fascinating white peppers and salt undertones to the cool fruits. Vivid acidity gives it energy and definition.

95Wine Enthusiast

...fresh, focused and sanguine, with lovely layers of blueberry, rhubarb and orange peel. Tangy acidity rides throughout its bolder, richer elements of supple tannin structure and integrated oak. A tangy hit of crisp rhubarb and cranberry lingers on the long finish.

93The Wine Advocate

...perfume of cranberry sauce, rhubarb and red berry jam hints with tree bark, underbrush, tobacco leaf and black cherries. The palate is medium to full-bodied, silky, rounded and slowly gains in amplitude in the mouth, giving up red then black fruits, spices, earth and savory notions...sturdy frame of very finely grained tannins and juicy acidity...finishing long and nuanced.

92Wine Spectator

Impressive for the supple array of plum, raspberry, black cherry, spice and light oak flavors.

United States, California, Sonoma, Russian River Valley

Russian River Valley AVA is named for the river that meanders from Mendocino County in the north until it finally runs into the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. The AVA is cool thanks to its proximity to the northern California coast and the river, and grape growers must learn to deal with regular fog. Nevertheless in recent decades the AVA has become one of the best in the state, meaning that its wines often earn excellent reviews and have considerable cachet. The AVA status was awarded in 1983 and today the appellation has 15,000 vineyard acres. Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape though Pinot Noir has also been very successful in recent decades. Russian River Valley Pinot Noir are known for being rich, lush and filled with concentrated fruit and berry flavors. Russian River Pinot Noirs are today considered some of the best domestic Pinot Noirs.

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
