RATINGS

95James Suckling

Fascinating aromas of dried strawberries, dried meat, spices and dried rose petals. Full body, chewy tannins and a juicy, savory finish.

92Stephen Tanzer

Complex nose combines mirabelle, spices, crushed stone and iodiney minerality. Full and plump, with an enticing touch of sweetness, yet this wine dances on the palate thanks to its firm spine of acidity and minerality.

92Burghound.com

...there is gorgeous detail to the finer tension-filled and ultra-pure flavors that finish with a touch of austerity.

88-90The Wine Advocate

Broody red fruit laced with melted tar on the nose, sultry after the Grèves but with a pleasant oyster shell scent. The palate is medium-bodied with chunky ripe tannin.. substance and charm.

17Jancis Robinson

Precise and elegant on the nose, very pure. This is beautifully elegant and finely concentrated. Opens up to be expressive. Darker fruited on the palate, with some graphite/mineral notes.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
