RATINGS

98The Wine Advocate

...full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a deep, concentrated but tight-knit core, its firm chassis of fine-grained, structuring tannins cloaked in succulent fruit, underpinned by juicy acids.

98Vinous / IWC

It has an utterly sublime bouquet of blackberry, briar, crushed limestone, a dash of cracked black pepper and a little oregano. This is extremely complex and displays exquisite focus...

19.5Jancis Robinson

Gorgeously scented with the most seductive, intense and lightly spicy dark-red fruit. A little more spice here.

98Burghound.com

...floral-inflected of the range with its equally cool and restrained array of violet and rose petal scents that combine with an extraordinary group of spice elements on the essence of red currant aromas.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
