RATINGS

96Vinous / IWC

...a big, full-throttle expression of cool-climate Syrah. Black pepper, game, smoke, licorice, tobacco and incense all hit the palate...an intense, explosive Syrah with tons of acid and structure behind the fruit.

94Wine Spectator

Polished and expressive, with a brooding undercurrent of sinewy tannins wrapped in rich blueberry, smoky game and licorice flavors.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...gorgeous nose of violets and peach blossoms with gregarious black and blue fruits plus loads of pepper and spice. Medium-bodied, elegant and with a solid structure of firm, chewy tannins, it has well-played background acid, finishing long and perfumed.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
