RATINGS

95-97The Wine Advocate

...powerful... black cherries, minerals and iodine emerge... quite tannic with perfectly poised acidity... exquisite balance and harmony... black cherries, blueberry... Just builds and builds in the glass...

92+ Stephen Tanzer

... roasted aromas of strawberry, plum, currant, licorice, roasted nuts, game, mocha and smoke. Big, round and complex; thick and ripe...

90Wine Spectator

...a suppe, gentle La Tache, with more underbrush than fruit flavors, fine tannins and moderate acidity...showin more floral and fruit tones and a richer texture.

90Burghound.com

Very floral and nicely spicy with elegant, relatively fine flavors that display solid intensity... There is very good supporting acidity which tends to highlight the lighter but nicely focused, medium weight flavors... very good...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
