RATINGS

A hint of menthol adds nuance to the mostly highly-spiced red berry fruit nose that is quite reserved if beautifully complex while leading to sweet, delicious, generous and round medium full flavors that are classy and refined...

94Stephen Tanzer

Coolish, discreet aromas of cherry, minerals and menthol. Broad, lush and pure; a step up in sweetness and flesh from this estate's other 2005s but with strong mineral and crushed stone elements giving real punch to the red fruit...

92Wine Enthusiast

...dark, brooding wine... The dense tannins dominate, but the rich black cherry fruit is their equal, creating structure.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Grande Rue

La Grand Rue is a 4-acre Grand Cru vineyard squeezed between La Tache and La Romanee-Conti, in Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. The vineyard is highly unusual in that it was elevated to Grand Cru status only in 1992, despite the fact that for much of the 20th century the wine was considered Grand Cru quality. La Grand Rue is a monopole of the Domaine Francois Lamarche, of Vosne-Romanee.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
