RATINGS

96Burghound.com

...layered and perfumed aromatic profile...impressively concentrated and palate staining flavors that possess striking precision on the explosively long and bone dry finish. This is a great Les Clos that will make old bones.

95+ Stephen Tanzer

...lime peel, seashell, spices, mint oil, white flowers and smoky, flinty minerality. Extremely backward on the palate, showing hints of smoked ham and dusty stone...extraordinary palate-saturating finish is like chewing on rocks today.

94Wine Spectator

Clean and focused, with apple, lemon, yellow plum and mineral notes riding a firm structure. This is balanced, showing a chalklike texture and a savory element on the finish.

18Jancis Robinson

Concentrated, fine and refined. Intensely mineral and dry. Fresh with a sort of peppery spice on the finish but it’s more the texture than the flavour – tongue-tingling. Very long. (JH)

REGION

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Les Clos

Les Clos is a 61-acre Grand Cru vineyard in the appellation of Chablis, at the northwestern tip of Burgundy. With rocky soil, good drainage, and a southerly orientation, the vineyard is generally the most acclaimed of the Chablis Grand Crus. The principal landholders are Fevre with 10.38 acres; J. Moreau, with 9.01 acres; and C. Moreau, with 9 acres. Other notable producers with parcels in Les Clos are Francois Raveneau, Louis Pinson, Joseph Drouhin and Rene Dauvissat. Like all the Chablis vineyards, it is planted exclusively to Chardonnay.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, Chablis Grand Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
