RATINGS

95-97Vinous / IWC

...gorgeous bouquet of very perfumed, floral dark berry fruit and crushed violets interlaced with India ink, crushed stone and incense; opulent but very refined. The palate is medium-bodied with cashmere tannins that lend a silky texture.

94-96The Wine Advocate

...brilliant, bursting with notes of cherries, plums, raw cocoa, exotic spices, blood orange and espresso roast. Full-bodied, layered and perfumed, its satiny attack segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate and a long, perfumed finish.

93-95Burghound.com

Subtle but discernible wood can be found on the pretty and perfumed aromas of sandalwood, exotic tea, essence of black currant, plum and a similar hint of star anise. There is excellent mid-palate density thanks to the abundant dry extract that buffers the firmer tannins shaping the mineral-driven, robust and powerful finish.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, Les Brulees

Les Brulees is an 11.25-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. Though it is divided by a road, the vineyard enjoys both a southeastern and northeastern exposure. Clive Coates calls Les Brulees “wine with backbone, richness and depth in a particularly masculine way.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
