RATINGS

94James Suckling

Deep blackberry and amarena-cherry nose...tannins have been expertly judged and the acidity is enough to lift the palate, the tannin structure making quite a statement at the bold and bright finish.

92-94The Wine Advocate

...notions of raspberries, orange rind, clove and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a bright spine of tangy acidity, it's beautifully balanced.

92-94Vinous / IWC

The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh and I do think those stems lend more freshness on the finish. Excellent.

90Wine Spectator

Bright and fluid, this sleek style exudes red fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Firm, ending with a taut texture and shades of earth and spices.

90-93Burghound.com

A moderately high-toned yet ripe nose displays a lovely range of floral elements on the aromas of red cherry and raspberry coulis. The sleek, delicious and more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess excellent underlying tension on the relatively fine and less overtly austere finale that isn't quite as structured.

16.5Jancis Robinson

Bright cherry red. Intensely aromatic dark-red fruit. Lively contrast between sweet fruit and fresh acidity, almost sweet/sour, a touch of vanilla. Lots of energy. Really fresh and moreish, the chalky tannins also seeming to add freshness. So juicy and delicious, good length, marked freshness on the finish.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Aux Cras

Aux Cras is a 12.5-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the commune of Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Beaune is the Cote d’Or’s third largest commune. Beaune has no Grand Crus but has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Aux Cras is located in the center of the appellation, adjacent to Les Teurons and Aux Coucherias, and is higher up the slope than its neighbors. Writer Clive Coates has written that this central area of Beaune, including Aux Cras, “is where you will find the finest examples of premier cru in Beaune.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
