RATINGS

94James Suckling

Apricots, sliced apples, praline, cream and hazelnuts on the nose. Full-bodied with fresh acidity and a layered, nutty palate. Lively and vivid.

93The Wine Advocate

...features lovely lemon-curd nuances. White peaches and a touch of grapefruit fill out the flavor profile. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, this wine is plump and textural without being overdone, finishing long, leesy and fresh.

93Vinous / IWC

...touch of barrel fermentation adds creaminess and texture, but the style remains one built on freshness and energy. Orchard fruit, lemon confit and spice fill out the layers effortlessly. This is such a pretty wine.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll

Oak Knoll AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newest appellations, having received that status in 2004. Located on the southern end of Napa Valley, the appellation is close to San Pablo Bay and therefore relatively cool. Of the 8,300 acres within the appellation, 4,150 are vineyards. The principal grapes grown are Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Riesling. Locals like to call Oak Knoll “the sweet spot” thanks to its location between the San Pablo Bay and its maritime climate and the much hotter climate of Napa Valley’s floor.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
