...a hint of the exotic the barest touch of wood that introduces intense, delicious, concentrated and notably powerful flavors that possess obvious density of extract that really coats and stains the palate on the superbly long and balanced finish. This is really quite a beautiful effort and if not elegant, the focus and overall sense of harmony is worth the price of admission. In a word, impressive.

Criots-Batard-Montrachet is a 3.87-acre Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyard just to the south of Batard-Montrachet, in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation of Burgundy. The largest landholders are Roger Belland, 1.5 acres; Charles Bonnefoy, .5 acre; and Richard Fontaine-Gagnard, .7 acre.
