RATINGS

94Wine Spectator

Lissome and polished, with expressive violet and blueberry aromas and precise but richly complex flavors of plum, mineral and spiced cinnamon. Finishes with refined and steely tannins.

94Vinous / IWC

Powerful red berry liqueur, potpourri, cola and incense aromas show outstanding clarity and verve, and a smoky mineral nuance builds in the glass. Offers concentrated yet distinctly lively and expansive black raspberry, bitter cherry, mocha and floral pastille flavors; a subtle blood orange quality adds refreshing bite. Gains weight and sweetness with air and finishes bright, gently tannic and extremely long, featuring resonating spiciness and florality.

...offers up notes of plum, dark currant, cherry and a nice range of spice elements. The rich and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess better volume than its 2017 counterpart while coating the palate with sappy dry extract on the more complex and persistent finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth...

92James Suckling

Aromas of blueberries, cranberries, and strawberries in this pinot noir. Hints of yogurt and a smoky undertone. Medium body, firm tannins and a crisp finish.

91+ The Wine Advocate

...opening out to black cherry, wild blackberry, dried lavender and warm earth with spices in the background. Light to medium-bodied, it’s silky in the mouth with concentrated red and black fruits, spices and notes of dusty soil and autumn leaves. It has a frame of firm, grainy tannins and wonderful juicy acidity to lift the long spicy finish.

Super layered and complex on the nose. Very intense but not sweet. Really exciting fruit. Long, Chapeau! Really lovely. Very appealing but with an undertow of gossamer-fine tannins. Woo hoo for Oregon Pinot!

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola-Amity Hills

Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, and it is the oldest appellation in Oregon. Oregon’s modern wine industry began in the Willamette Valley in the 1960s when artists, vagabond winemakers, and U.C. Davis oenology graduates looking for new territory started their own, small, off-the-grid wineries. The appellation is the state’s largest, and it extends 175 miles from Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border to just south of Eugene, near central Oregon. The Willamette River runs through the area, helping to give the appellation a mild year-round climate. There are six smaller sub-appellations within this AVA, but altogether the Willamette Valley has the largest concentration of wineries in Oregon, as well as the majority of the state’s most famous producers. Pinot Noir is king here, followed by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. To most admirers of Oregon Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley offers the most distinctive wine choices in the state.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
