RATINGS

93Wine Spectator

A fresh, vivid red, showing beautifully defined cherry, rose and mineral flavors. Sleek and tensile, with fine equilibrium and a lingering aftertaste of mineral and spice.

90-92Burghound.com

A notably ripe and elegantly spicy mixture of cassis, black and blue berry plus red pinot fruit gives way to generous, fleshy and quite rich medium-bodied flavors that possess more volume than usual before culminating in an extract-rich finish that carries its structure effortlessly.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Les Chaumes

Les Chaumes is a 16.1-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. Located on the appellation’s southern boundary, it is just to the west of Aux Malconsorts. The slight slope of the vineyard makes for good drainage, and the soil is a rich mix of clay and alluvial soil.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
