RATINGS

96James Suckling

...smoked-meat edge with a distinctive, savory, tanned-leather note and ripe, spice-dusted dark fruit. Beautiful, succulent acidity holds very rich fruit flesh together nicely and the palate has such weight and silky, deeply plush, velvety tannins.

96Wine Enthusiast

Pungently floral and inviting... Orange and rhubarb flavors contribute a fleshy texture and a biting, high-toned lilt of acidity. Persistent notes of Asian spice and black tea give it complexity and length.

95Jeb Dunnuck

...big nose of wild strawberries, candied cherries, violets, mint, and sandalwood...medium-bodied...beautifully balanced, has moderate tannins, and a great finish, with its acidity there yet nicely tucked in behind beautiful fruit. It's not a heavyweight yet stays light, balanced, and incredibly satisfying.

94+ The Wine Advocate

...poignant nose of blueberry, red berry preserves, Earl Grey tea leaves, warm blackberry and dusty earth. Light to medium-bodied with a concentrated core of perfumed fruits, it offers wonderful freshness and a soft frame of tannins, with baking spices coming through on the finish.

94Vinous / IWC

...soft, open-knit and inviting. Red berry fruit, silky tannins and expressive floral/spice overtones give the 2017 much of its undeniably allure...

91Wine Spectator

Supple, offering cedary accents to the dried cherry and berry flavors. Smoke and spice details show midpalate, with mocha and cream notes and hints of tangerine on the finish.

91Burghound.com

...very cool nose grudgingly offers up notes of both red and dark berries that are laced with spice and floral wisps. The sleek, intense and delicious medium weight flavors possess the finest mouth feel in the range along with better length on the more completely balanced finale...

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Russian River Valley

Russian River Valley AVA is named for the river that meanders from Mendocino County in the north until it finally runs into the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. The AVA is cool thanks to its proximity to the northern California coast and the river, and grape growers must learn to deal with regular fog. Nevertheless in recent decades the AVA has become one of the best in the state, meaning that its wines often earn excellent reviews and have considerable cachet. The AVA status was awarded in 1983 and today the appellation has 15,000 vineyard acres. Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape though Pinot Noir has also been very successful in recent decades. Russian River Valley Pinot Noir are known for being rich, lush and filled with concentrated fruit and berry flavors. Russian River Pinot Noirs are today considered some of the best domestic Pinot Noirs.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
