RATINGS

96+ The Wine Advocate

...perfumed notes of orange blossoms, peach kernels, grapefruit and lemon zest plus some matchstick and honey-nut nuances. Very fine and intense in the mouth...multilayered, with a fine light to medium body and amazing length.

96James Suckling

...the oak is seamlessly integrated and a savory undercurrent runs into grapefruit, peaches and lemon fruits...some greener herbal edges, hints of dried honey, mandarins and gunflint... The palate has a tightly interlaced mix of savory and fruit character, while dry, stony minerals wrap around restrained lime and apple fruits together with some spiced custard and cream and subtle vanilla spices...fine acidity, pastry-like layering and good depth.

91Wine Spectator

Shows a lovely mix of power and elegance, with subtle lemon curd, toasted herb, lime zest and hazelnut flavors, set against a backdrop of vibrant acidity that adds clarity to the nuances.

17.5+ Jancis Robinson

Mid straw, great depth and interest. Some putty and very juicy and appetising.

REGION

Australia, South Australia

South Australia is the nation’s most important wine region. South Australia is to Australia what California is to the U.S. About half of Australia’s wine comes from South Australia and many of the country’s most acclaimed producers are there. Wineries based in South Australia include Penfolds Grange, Torbreck, Amon Ra, Henschke and Jacob’s Creek. The prestigious Barossa Valley is located in South Australia, and is often compared to Napa Valley because it is gorgeous topography covered in grape vines. First farmed by 19th century German-speakers who immigrated from what is now Poland, the Barossa Valley is the crown jewel of the region. South Australia has widely varying climates, from very hot, dry areas to cooler, high altitude areas. There are more than 150,000 acres of vineyards in South Australia, with more being planted each month. Shiraz is king, though the region also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvedre, Chardonnay and Semillon.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
