RATINGS

96The Wine Advocate

...a seamless, elegant wine of the highest level. In fact, nothing seems to stand out, as the wine captivates all of the senses in equally stunning fashion. White flowers and light floral honey wrap around the sublime, eternal finish. This is a true stand out. Dazzling.

...ultra-elegant white flower, pear, citrus, spice and wet stone nuances where the latter element suffuses the detailed and crystalline pure flavors that display borderline painful intensity on the driving, linear and impeccably well-balanced finish.

94Stephen Tanzer

Enticing aromas of white peach, green apple, white flowers and crushed stone, with a suggestion of exotic fruits... Very long and rich on the back end.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet

Chevalier-Montrachet is one of the four justly famous Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy. The 18-acre vineyard is located up the slope from Le Montrachet and shares Le Montrachet’s excellent southern exposure, though Chevalier-Montrachet’s soil is considerably thinner and more rocky. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that Chevalier-Montrachet is “full, firm” and has “a great deal of depth and elegance.” The largest landholders are Bouchard Pere et Fils, 7.5 acres; Leflaive, 4 acres; and Louis Jadot, 1.5 acres.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, Grand Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
