RATINGS

...refined and perfumed nose offers up notes of raspberry, strawberry, woodsmoke, heather, ginger, tea leaves, orange peel, sous bois and a cedar...medium-full, complex and intensely flavored, with excellent focus and depth, sound acids, and a long, pretty, complex and tangy finish. Outstanding middleweight.

This is very stylish and classy juice that is drinking perfectly now though it remains relatively youthful and while it has reached its apogee, it should be capable of holding well for sometime yet. In sum, a very good rather than great example that lacks just a bit of grace on the finish though it's certainly a pleasure to drink.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Romanee-Conti

Romanee-Conti is the most famous vineyard in the world, and certainly the most celebrated in Burgundy. It is a 4.32-acre Grand Cru parcel owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The Grand Cru pinot noir produced from the vineyard is one of the world’s most acclaimed wines. Romanee-Conti is a square-shaped plot enclosed on three sides by a stone wall. It is about half way up the slope with an elevation between 260 and 275 meters. The gentle incline makes for nearly perfect drainage and the vineyard receives sun all day. The soil is a sand, clay and limestone mixture.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
