RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

...displays aromas of roasted meat, wood smoke, black truffles, plum and black raspberry. Persistently meaty in the mouth, with plum pit and wet stone adjuncts...

92Burghound.com

...high-toned and wonderfully seductive nose of raspberry and strawberry aromas nuanced by hints of oak, spice and earth that continues on the rich, sweet and solidly detailed medium full flavors...

90Wine Spectator

There's spice from oak on the nose, which leads to a core of concentrated cherry flavor. Very refined and elegant...

18Jancis Robinson

...smoky with tantalising red fruit underneath. On the palate, rich, juicy sweet red fruit but not oversweet. Supple tannins, beautifully balanced and good concentration.

89-92Stephen Tanzer

Explosive aromas of peach, nectarine, nutmeg, smoke and grilled nuts. Spicy and impressively concentrated, with the nutty nuance carrying through on the palate. Chewy, tactile and dry but smooth. Finishes strong and long also quite elegant

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
