RATINGS

98The Wine Advocate

Meaty/earthy nose of prosciutto, underbrush and tapenade with a core of crushed black currants, black cherries and tar...Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, this wine manages to have beautiful finesse with a gorgeous multi-layered palate

97Vinous / IWC

Rich, unctuous and exquisitely layered, the 2013 possesses stunning depth and richness. Layers of dark red and purplish fruit are pushed front and center... This is a positively stunning wine from Donelan.

96Jeb Dunnuck

An incredibly complete Syrah that offers killer notes of blackcurrants, smoked meats (maybe even a hint of bacon fat), roasted herbs and lavender. It’s a big, concentrated beauty...impeccable balance, an elegant, seamless style

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
