RATINGS

99The Wine Advocate

...perfumed rose hip tea, fragrant earth and incense scents, giving way to a core of kirsch, blackberry preserves and blackcurrant pastilles plus a touch of iron ore. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it has exquisitely ripe, finely grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and minerally.

96James Suckling

Lots of ripe, plummy fruit with orange peel, flowers and cherries on the nose. Some stones. It’s full-to medium-bodied with a round, juicy palate and a flavorful finish. Very attractive and well balanced.

95Wine Spectator

This has energy and intensity, with bramble-edged plum, blackberry and boysenberry paste flavors that saturate without being heavy, backed by anise and apple wood on the well-defined finish.

95Vinous / IWC

...silky, sensual and wonderfully open-knit... Rose petal, crushed red/purplish berry fruit, graphite, spice and mint infuse...

United States, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena, Dr. Crane Vineyard

Dr. Crane Vineyard was originally planted in 1858 by Napa Valley pioneer Dr. George Belden Crane. It was acquired by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1997. Located in the city of St. Helena, the 25-acre vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms more than 3,600 acres of highly prestigious grape growing vineyards in Napa Valley, Mendocino County and the Red Hills of Lake County. A senior executive with Heublein in the 1960s, Andy Beckstoffer is credited with steering Napa Valley vintners towards improving farming and the quality of the grapes used for wine. Grapes from any Beckstoffer vineyards are considered among the finest available in California.
