RATINGS

97Wine Enthusiast

Packed with tannins and boasting an enormous structure...opulent while very firm. At the same time, smoky acidity shoots through all this density...shows minerality and its great structure well.

94The Wine Advocate

...plenty of clean and crisp redcurrant and cranberry fruit, hints of lavender and cassis...medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, very fine tannin, good backbone with a wondrous, complex, spice-tinged finish that has impressive persistence, more than a minute perhaps...superb...

94John Gilman

The beautiful bouquet is a vibrant mélange of red and black cherries, grilled meats, cocoa, a complex base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke and vanillin oak...pure, full-bodied and shows of marvelous mid-palate depth...finish is long and suavely tannic, with great soil signature, beautifully-integrated tannins and excellent focus and grip. A superb result in 2013!

93+ Stephen Tanzer

Pungent limestone lift to the aromas of raspberry and spices. Densely packed and energetic, with powerful, primary red berry flavors complemented by strong salty mineral extract...chewy, highly concentrated wine... Finishes ripely tannic and very long, with a tactile solidity.

91Wine Spectator

Offering a rigid block of cherry and raspberry flavors, with solid tannins... All the components are there and the finish is long...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin

Chapelle-Chambertin is a 13.5-acre Grand Cru vineyard just north of Griotte-Chambertin in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. Its name comes from the chapel of Notre Dame de Beze, a chapel built in 1155 by the monks of Abbey de Beze and demolished several centuries later during the French Revolution. There is not much slope in this vineyard, nor much soil. Louis Jadot and Claude Dugat have small parcels here, though the largest landholders are Pierre Damoy, 5 acres; Ponsot 1.7 acres; and Jean and Jean-Louis Trapet, 1.5 acres.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
