RATINGS

98The Wine Advocate

A young classic, soaring from the glass with an exotic and stunningly complex bouquet of dark berries, plums, hoisin, smoked duck, dark chocolate, licorice and Chinese five spice... full-bodied, multidimensional and authoritative

98Stephen Tanzer

Bright, dark red. Ineffable nose and palate combine note of flowers, anisette and Asian spices with raspberry and pungent crushed-stone minerality.. plush.. penetrating, conveying uncanny inner-mouth clarity and lift and impressive reserve

98Burghound.com

Asian spice box elements, rose petal, lavender, lilac, orange pekoe tea and sandalwood.... superb richness to the powerfully constituted flavors that possess outstanding delineation and intensity... This is one classy wine

97Vinous / IWC

Black tea, bay leaf, a pinch of cracked black pepper and a slight bell pepper scent. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin on the entry, presaging a masculine and almost curmudgeonly La Tâche...long and deep

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
