RATINGS

95Jeb Dunnuck

Pure lemon, honeysuckle, caramelized stone fruits, iodine, and toasted almond notes...medium-bodied beauty has bright, juicy acidity, terrific balance, and a great finish.

94Vinous / IWC

...textural depth, aromatic brightness and structure. Citrus peel, mint, savory herb and orchard fruit are supported by bracing mineral notes that lend energy...such an elegant style.

94Wine Enthusiast

Uplifting aromas of honeysuckle and grapefruit peel meet with chiseled wood and seashore aromas on the nose... Dried lemon peel and apple-flesh flavors meet a hint of briny seaweed on the palate, which is enveloped in a fascinatingly leathery grip, quite unique for a white wine.

93+ The Wine Advocate

...bright, high-toned notions of saline, iodine and crushed shell, accenting a core of tangerine, quince and chamomile. The medium-bodied palate has broad fruits in a satiny texture, and it zeroes in with bright freshness on the long, mineral-laced finish.

REGION

United States, California, South Coast, Santa Barbara County, Santa Rita Hills

Santa Rita Hills AVA in northern Santa Barbara County was granted appellation status in 2001. Located between the towns of Lompoc and Buellton, it has a total area of 30,720 acres with 2,700 vineyard acres. The area is considered a cool climate for vineyards, so vineyards are most often planted with the cool-weather grapes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The hills in the western part of this appellation are directly exposed to the Pacific Ocean, meaning that maritime winds and fog make the western edge of the Santa Rita Hills AVA particularly cool. The Sanford & Benedict Vineyard planted in 1971 was the first vineyard in the district and is still considered one of the best.

TYPE
