RATINGS

95Stephen Tanzer

Captivating nose combines red and darker berries, smoky earth, cocoa powder, violet and sandalwood, displaying an element of lift currently missing in the Grands-Echezeaux. sweet, silky and concentrated on the suave, saline palate...

19Jancis Robinson

Plenty of peppery spice initially but also finely floral. Perfumed red fruit then emerges from under the spice, sweet, even a hint of vanilla. A little bit exotic but in a fresh, light way... Always so tantalising.

95Burghound.com

...precise, textured and focused finish that offers tremendous length. For all its considerable attributes however, this remains an understated wine of harmony, grace and impeccable balance. A stunner of a wine.

94The Wine Advocate

The aromatics alone are breathtaking, but the RSV is truly firing on all cylinders. It shows remarkable silkiness, inner perfume and nobility. A seamless finish rounds things out in style.

94Wine Spectator

Aromas of strawberry, cherry and rose are very pure, if reserved, and this possesses an inner beauty. Translucent, yet firm and austere, with fine length.

The vineyard faces east, has a gentle incline and an elevation of 250 to 265 meters. The soil is clay and limestone. Principal producers of Romanee-Saint-Vivant are Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, with 13.23 acres; Leroy, with 2.48 acres; and Domaine de Corton-Grancey/Louis Latour, with 1.9 acres.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
