RATINGS

94James Suckling

This offers a deeply spicy nose with cinnamon-dusted plums and red and darker cherries. The palate has a riper feel with black cherries and some riper, darker plums. Chocolate also framing the finish, which is wrapped up by very suave, supple tannins.

94Wine Enthusiast

...a smooth, forward and inviting wine... Lovely red berry and cherry fruit is highlighted by nuanced threads of tea and tobacco.

93Wine Spectator

Tightly focused and well-bred, with refined cherry and rose petal aromas that open to harmonious strawberry, mineral and orange peel accents, finishing with fine tannins.

93Vinous / IWC

Expansive red and dark berry, incense and cola aromas, along with smoky oak spice and vanilla notes on the perfumed nose. Palate-coating Chambord, cherry cola and spicecake flavors show excellent clarity and become sweeter as the wine opens up. Lingers with impressive persistence on the finish, which is supported by smooth tannins.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...a brown sugar and cinnamon-laced nose, opening to a core of black cherry and black berry jam with touches of crushed blueberries and toasted coconut. Medium to full-bodied, it's chock-full of warm black fruits wrapped in a layer of baking spice, with firm, grainy tannins and wonderful juicy acidity, finishing very long and very spicy.

92Burghound.com

Ample wood influence is noticeable but not intrusive on the very pretty and overtly spicy dark pinot fruit nose that exhibits additional breadth with its notes of violets and briar. The sleek, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors possess a moderately refined palate impression before culminating in a slightly warm if beautifully complex and sneaky long finale.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Dundee Hills AVA is in Yamhill County, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s best known appellation. Dundee Hills is about 30 miles southwest of Portland, and has 1,300 vineyard acres. It was awarded AVA status in 2004 and, like much of Oregon, is known for Pinot Noir. Several of Oregon’s 20th century wine pioneers established their vineyards and wineries in Dundee Hills, adding to its status as a region long-recognized for producing high quality, iconic Oregon wines. Eyrie Vineyards, Erath Winery and Sokol Blosser remain some of Oregon’s most celebrated producers, and all were founded in what is now Dundee Hills in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
