RATINGS

90Stephen Tanzer

Fruit-driven aromas of raspberry and strawberry liqueur and smoky oak. Sweet and sappy, with lovely pure red berry flavors supported by firm underlying backbone.

18Jancis Robinson

Intensely fruity underneath. Fine scent and quite subtle. Really rather fine and elegant... Lots of fruit and concentration is buried in here even though it is still relatively unevolved... should be well worth waiting awhile.

An expressive and maturing but not fully mature nose offers up notes of softly earthy red berries that are nuanced by hints of violets and menthol that precede delicious middle weight flavors...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Beaune, Le Clos Des Mouches

Le Clos de Mouches is a 62-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though Beaune has no Grand Crus, it has 44 vineyards that are either entirely or partly Premier Cru. Le Clos de Mouches is located in the southern third of the appellation, and like many of its neighbors, it faces nearly due east.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
