RATINGS

97The Wine Advocate

...bright, vivacious blackcurrant jelly, black cherry preserves and mulberries scents, plus wafts of crushed rocks, cardamom, fragrant earth and violets...medium to full-bodied palate shimmers with crunchy black fruits and red berry sparks, framed by taut, fine-grained tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and perfumed.

97Wine Enthusiast

...swarms in velvety baked fruit...shows complex layers of crushed rock, iron and earth. The exuberantly vibrant yet rich core weaves together notes of cocoa powder, currant, black pepper and tobacco.

96Jeb Dunnuck

...beautiful perfume of ripe black cherry and cassis fruits as well as classy tobacco, new oak, cedar pencil, and violets...a classic 2018 on the palate and stays relatively focused and straight, with good concentration, ripe, polished tannins, and a wonderful sense of balance and purity.

91James Suckling

A ripe and rich nose of blackberries, dark plums, prunes and chocolate orange. Full-bodied with supple tannins. Creamy with lots of fruit and chocolate. Flavorful finish.

United States, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena, Dr. Crane Vineyard

Dr. Crane Vineyard was originally planted in 1858 by Napa Valley pioneer Dr. George Belden Crane. It was acquired by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1997. Located in the city of St. Helena, the 25-acre vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms more than 3,600 acres of highly prestigious grape growing vineyards in Napa Valley, Mendocino County and the Red Hills of Lake County. A senior executive with Heublein in the 1960s, Andy Beckstoffer is credited with steering Napa Valley vintners towards improving farming and the quality of the grapes used for wine. Grapes from any Beckstoffer vineyards are considered among the finest available in California.
