RATINGS

97James Suckling

Such fragrance and aromatic expressiveness with peppery nuances and tarry plums, as well as freshly dug, earthy depth, licorice and violets. So pure and primary. The palate has a very, very rich and deeply cut groove of ripe dark cherries that heads into salted-licorice territory. Stunning and unique wine with such length and depth.

93Vinous / IWC

Deeply perfumed aromas of red and blue fruit preserves, cola, candied flowers and baking spices, along with a smoky mineral overtone. Concentrated yet lively on the palate, offering appealingly sweet, oak-spiced black raspberry, cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavors that spread out slowly with air. Conveys a suave blend of heft and energy and finishes with steadily building tannins and strong, spice-driven persistence.

92+ The Wine Advocate

...blueberry coulis, baked blackberries, boysenberry, violet and lilac with touches of bergamot, fir, forest floor, toasted coconut and sweet spices. Medium-bodied and silky, it's fruit-driven in the mouth with a firm, lightly chalky frame and great freshness, finishing long and spiced.

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
