RATINGS

99The Wine Advocate

Suave, displaying massive amplitude and a full-bodied, velvety-textured character, this behemoth’s flavor profile brings to mind chocolate-covered black cherries. Immensely powerful and noble, it offers an interminable finish...

95+ Stephen Tanzer

Wonderfully complex nose melds raspberry, rose petal, truffley underbrush and exotic spices. Then almost shockingly fresh in the mouth, with penetrating and rather delicate flavors of red berries and flowers.

19Jancis Robinson

...Lovely texture and great balance...tannins and fruit seem in perfect harmony. Great integrity and finesse. Is this the triumph of vine age against the extremes of Nature? So confident! Such grace. Lovely finish...

95Burghound.com

The usual La Tâche aromatic fireworks...make for an utterly brilliant nose...broad-shouldered flavors remain somewhat understated...marries finesse and purity with power...finish is very ripe...should ultimately be a great La Tâche...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
