RATINGS

94Wine Spectator

Opens with a burst of savory forest floor aromas, leading to a rich and structured core of blueberry and cherry flavors, steeped in river stone and sandalwood accents that gather tension toward refined tannins.

94Vinous / IWC

...complex, highly perfumed bouquet displays spice-tinged raspberry, boysenberry and floral scents, along with a deeper cola accent and a hint of energizing minerality. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering expansive red and blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors supported by a core of juicy acidity. Shows impressive delineation and finishes very long and minerally, with even tannins and an echo of juicy berries.

93The Wine Advocate

...aromas of tar, turned earth, burnt orange, baked red berries and smoked cranberries with nuances of amaro, tree bark and a lacy veil of new oak spice. Medium-bodied, the palate is silky and offers intense, layered flavors with a firm but ripe frame and great freshness on the long, bitters-laced finish.

17.5Jancis Robinson

Subtle and savoury aromatics followed by a silken palate texture and plenty of palate stimulation. Delicious and persistent, with good tension and length.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Dundee Hills AVA is in Yamhill County, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s best known appellation. Dundee Hills is about 30 miles southwest of Portland, and has 1,300 vineyard acres. It was awarded AVA status in 2004 and, like much of Oregon, is known for Pinot Noir. Several of Oregon’s 20th century wine pioneers established their vineyards and wineries in Dundee Hills, adding to its status as a region long-recognized for producing high quality, iconic Oregon wines. Eyrie Vineyards, Erath Winery and Sokol Blosser remain some of Oregon’s most celebrated producers, and all were founded in what is now Dundee Hills in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
