RATINGS

95Wine Spectator

Compact and firm, this has broad shoulders and sweetness to the fruit. Offers nice tension, ripe tannins and fine length, with a rich, spicy aftertaste.

95Burghound.com

...unbelievably refined flavors that seem crafted from silk and lace, culminating in a linear, mouth coating finish that detonates like a bomb and lasts and lasts.

94Stephen Tanzer

Compellingly silky-sweet and suave on the palate, with great aromatic lift to the red fruit, spice and mineral flavors. Taut and sharply focused, finishing with superb, palate-saturating minerally persistence and great finesse of tannins.

18.5Jancis Robinson

Lovely broad, complex, flattering, autumnal notes on the nose and then very fresh and crystalline on the palate offering a sumptuous combination of that Tâche fan of rich violet flavours with refreshment too.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
