RATINGS

96Vinous / IWC

Slate, ash and smoke are just some of the nuances that wrap around the palate in this captivating, strikingly beautiful wine. The wine shows multiple players of flavor all the way through to the kaleidoscopic finish.

95Stephen Tanzer

Wonderfully creamy and fine-grained in the mouth, saturating the entire palate with orange, dusty stone and ginger flavors. Superb citric cut keeps it fresh and extends the very long finish. Outstanding wine, and true to its terroir.

94The Wine Advocate

...ethereal slate and honeysuckle scents that display exquisite delineation. The palate is extremely well-balanced...

This refined introduction is followed by stony and beautifully precise flavors that possess a positively gorgeous mouth feel before terminating in a driving, citrusy and stony finish that delivers superb persistence.

18.5Jancis Robinson

Great weight and precision and really absolutely of Grand Cru status. Just so brilliant...

PRODUCER

Coche-Dury

Domaine Coche-Dury in Meursault, Burgundy, is renowned for its Corton-Charlemagne and Meursault-Perrieres. The 26.4 acres estate is owned by Jean-Francois Coche-Dury, who is one of Burgundy’s most respected producers. Vineyards are planted to Chardonnay, Aligote, Gamay and Pinot Noir. Though the estate is known for its white wines, it also makes a small amount of red wine. About 5,000 bottles of the two signature wines are made each year. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that Jean-Francois Coche-Dury “produces some of the region’s longest-lived, most aromatically complex, and compellingly textured white wines.”

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Meursault, Les Perrieres

Les Perrieres is 34-acre Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault, in Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. The vineyard includes several sub parcels. They are the 2.4-acre monopole Clos des Perrieres, which belongs to Domaine Albert Grivault, and Les Perrieres Dessous. Because Les Perrieres is in southern Meursault next to Puligny, the Les Perrieres Meursaults are considered to have more minerality than other Meursaults. Burgundy writer Clive Coates has noted that “Perrieres is perhaps the most elegant and persistent of the premier crus. At its best, it is positively brilliant…” Since Meursault lacks a Grand Cru, Meursault’s reputation for excellence is based on the Premier Crus, particularly the whites.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
