RATINGS

96Burghound.com

...the nose has become even more elegant with age...extravagant panoply of rose petals, oriental spices, pungent tea...leather...ultra-refined pinot fruit...powerful, chiseled, pure flavors...a genuinely excellent vintage for La Tâche.

94+ Stephen Tanzer

Superripe aromas of red fruits, minerals and earth. Highly concentrated...

90-93The Wine Advocate

Suave, plush, and regal, it boasts loads of candied black fruits in its deep character. This supple wine reveals superb clarity of fruit and an impressively long, fruit-filled finish.

17.5Jancis Robinson

Firm finish. Very fresh...Not voluptuous but very fresh and lively and wonderfully long.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
