RATINGS

96Vinous / IWC

... Exotically perfumed red berry preserve, potpourri and Moroccan spice aromas... Smoothly marries power and finesse, offering palate-staining black raspberry, boysenberry, rose pastille and spicecake flavors...strikingly persistent finish, which features polished tannins and a sappy, resonating red fruit liqueur note.

94Wine Spectator

Polished and elegantly complex, with supple raspberry, orange peel and fresh violet accents that build richness and structure on a lingering finish.

94James Suckling

Really impressively cast complexity on the nose with ripe red to dark cherries and a super plush web of fine, long tannin that carries long and convincing. The finish is expansive...

93Wine Enthusiast

Toasty, focused...a wash of espresso, wrapping the ample cherry fruit and carrying the wine through a long finish.

92The Wine Advocate

...opens with touches of charcuterie, peppercorn, scorched earth and tar, very slowly segueing to potpourri, leather, wild blackberries and bright red berries with amaro nuances...medium-bodied and serious in the mouth with savory and spice-laced fruits, a firm, chalky frame and seamless freshness to lift the finish...

17Jancis Robinson

Big and with great potential. Lots to chew on. Dry finish, like sucking on warm rocks.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Dundee Hills AVA is in Yamhill County, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s best known appellation. Dundee Hills is about 30 miles southwest of Portland, and has 1,300 vineyard acres. It was awarded AVA status in 2004 and, like much of Oregon, is known for Pinot Noir. Several of Oregon’s 20th century wine pioneers established their vineyards and wineries in Dundee Hills, adding to its status as a region long-recognized for producing high quality, iconic Oregon wines. Eyrie Vineyards, Erath Winery and Sokol Blosser remain some of Oregon’s most celebrated producers, and all were founded in what is now Dundee Hills in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
