RATINGS

92The Wine Advocate

...nose of crushed blackberries, black cherries and warm plum with touches of cedar, fragrant soil, camphor and baker's chocolate. Medium to full-bodied and laden with crunchy black fruits, it has firm frame of grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with baking spice suggestions coming through.

92Wine Spectator

Features a solid graphite spine running from start to finish, easily supporting the core of dense blueberry, black currant and blackberry puree flavors. Shows a dusting of tobacco and cocoa on the finish, with the fruit winning out easily.

92Jeb Dunnuck

...blackcurrants, graphite, violets, and damp earth, with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, seamless style on the palate. I love its balance, its silky tannins, and outstanding purity of fruit.

91Vinous / IWC

Iron, smoke, red cherry jam and menthol, along with the wine's potent tannins, convey an impression of power.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, Coombsville

Coombsville AVA is one of Napa Valley’s newer appellations, having received its official designation only in 2011. Tucked just to the northeast of Los Carneros and a few minutes’ drive east of downtown Napa, the Coombsville appellation is relatively large at a total of 11,000 acres. The elevation varies from 100 to 1,000 feet, and the climate is moderated by marine breezes from the San Pablo Bay. The main grape varieties here are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
