RATINGS

97Wine Enthusiast

Truly glorious and incredibly seductive... fruit, herbs & spice. Bold, sleek & velvety... ripe raspberry & cherry flavors. It evens out with hints of leather, toast, crème brûlée, rose petals, citrus & toast on the long, lingering finish.

...Pure aromas of cassis, violet and minerals. Rich, sweet, suave and penetrating, with lovely mineral character and integrated acidity contributing to an impression of precision. Very primary, long and subtle on the back end...

Nose of dried rose petals plus a fantastic array of aromas and spices too numerous to even try to describe that lead to fine, detailed and beautifully textured flavors and terrific length.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanee, La Tache

La Tache is a 14.4-acre Grand Cru monopole in the Cote de Nuits owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Until 1932 La Tache was a much smaller vineyard, but in that year the government allowed Domaine de la Romanee-Conti to buy the adjacent 11-acre Les Gaudichots vineyard. La Tache’s elevation is 255 to 300 meters and it has several kinds of soil including large amounts of limestone and clay.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
