RATINGS

95The Wine Advocate

Aromas of rose petals, red berries, plums, woodsmoke, exotic spices and hoisin...full-bodied, layered wine that's dramatic and enveloping but impressively fine-boned, with rich, powdery structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish.

95Vinous / IWC

...brambly red fruit laced with shucked oyster shell and a touch of seaweed...palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, lightly spiced with a subtle ash-like note towards the composed finish.

17.5Jancis Robinson

Gorgeous scent on the palate, red fruit, ripe, concentrated and so lively and fresh. Smooth if firm texture.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Aux Malconsorts

Aux Malconsorts is an 14.6-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanee appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits. It is on the appellation’s southern boundary with Nuits-Saints-Georges. The vineyard abuts La Tache, which is just to the north and has similar soil composition. Burgundy writer Clive Coates notes that Aux Malconsorts “can have flair, fat, finesse and a fine perfume.”

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, 1er (Premier) Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
