RATINGS

98The Wine Advocate

Wafting from the glass with a deep and complex bouquet of dark wild berries, cassis, wilted rose petals, blood orange, exotic spices, licorice and coniferous forest floor, the 2017 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is full-bodied, satiny textured and multidimensional.

97Burghound.com

The silky and equally pure middle weight flavors possess excellent punch and a similar level of minerality on the focused, powerful, linear and impressively persistent finish that slowly fans out as it sits on the palate.

96Vinous / IWC

The 2017 is powerful and quite closed initially, yet with some aeration hints of black cherry, lavender and exotic spice start to appear. A closing rush of baritone inflections give it a real sense of gravitas.

19+ Jancis Robinson

Powerful briary nose that takes time to open up. But it certainly unfurls in the glass. Savoury rather than sweet on the nose. Fine and refined. Fine boned – very aristocratic and thoroughbred...

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Nuits-Villages, Vosne-Romanee, Romanee-Conti

Romanee-Conti is the most famous vineyard in the world, and certainly the most celebrated in Burgundy. It is a 4.32-acre Grand Cru parcel owned exclusively by Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The Grand Cru pinot noir produced from the vineyard is one of the world’s most acclaimed wines. Romanee-Conti is a square-shaped plot enclosed on three sides by a stone wall. It is about half way up the slope with an elevation between 260 and 275 meters. The gentle incline makes for nearly perfect drainage and the vineyard receives sun all day. The soil is a sand, clay and limestone mixture.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir, Grand Cru

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
