Estimate
A very attractive array of ripe blackberry that speaks tot he two-thirds shiarz component here, redder grenache perfume and some spicy allure. The palate's supple, fleshy and succulent with a ball of smooth glossy dark berry and plum flavour.
Spice, tea and dried herb notes make for an aromatic opening... Detailed and aromatic through to the end, which shows precision and elegance.
Spice- and herb-tinged red and blue fruits on the perfumed nose, which takes on cracked pepper and woodsmoke nuances as the wine opens up. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry, blueberry and fruitcake flavors and a touch of candied licorice. The floral and spice notes repeat on a long, smooth finish that"s framed by fine-grained, even tannins.
Medium-bodied, plump and mouthwatering, it showcases attractive notes of cherries and stone fruit, with just a touch of savory black olive.
Green olives, coffee grounds, raisiny plums and currant fruits and a copper penny tang are all present, too, precisely put together like a neatly wrapped present, in Henschke's typically poised and polished style. A silky texture, powdery tannins and a leafy nuance mark the finish.
Sweet spice, jammy fruit, fine tannins and long, spicy complexity on the finish. In fact, the fruit makes a welcome return too – this is impressively persistent... Opulent, expressive, moreish.
