RATINGS

95Wine Enthusiast

...shows the structure of the vintage as well as its fresh and perfumed fruit. The combination will develop to produce a restrained and elegant wine...

92Wine Spectator

Well-built, with a core of dense plum paste, raspberry reduction and melted red licorice notes framed by roasted apple wood accents and backed by juicy, brambly grip on the finish...

92Vinous / IWC

...tremendous richness and depth with élevage. A whole range of sweet tobacco, menthol, savory herbs, leather and licorice notes flesh out as this powerful, super-expressive wine starts to open in the glass...

91Robert M. Parker Jr.

...warm black and red plums, blackcurrants and cigar box scents with a waft of crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, fine-grained and with great freshness, it delivers a minerally finish.

91Jeb Dunnuck

Notes of red and black currants, truffles, smoked earth, and graphite... Medium-bodied, ripe, with present tannins and good acidity, it has an old-school vibe and is classic Graves...

REGION

France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan was created in 1987 from the northern part of the left bank Graves appellation. Before then it was simply part of Graves, or sometimes it was called Haut-Graves. Unlike many other Bordeaux appellations, Pessac-Léognan is known for both red and dry white wines, although its reds are more famous. The appellation includes ten communes and the area’s most important châteaux, including Château Haut-Brion, the only non-Médoc estate included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. There are 2,964 acres of vineyards in Pessac-Léognan and 16 classified growth estates. The main red grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. White grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with a little Muscadelle. Pessac-Léognan is considered to have the best terroir of the greater Graves region.
