RATINGS

95Vinous / IWC

...bright and punchy... Dark red plum, mocha, espresso, rose petal, spice and blood orange...absolutely striking in its beauty

95Jeb Dunnuck

...plenty of blue fruits, violets, and floral notes, medium to full body, some classic cedar and tobacco nuances, ripe tannins, and outstanding length...another pretty, elegant, yet also powerful wine...

94Wine Enthusiast

This memorable, inviting wine is herbal and earthy, with a soft lushness on the palate. Blackberry, currant and black cherry mingle with ease, accented by toasted oak and clove. This full-bodied red holds its power and concentration with lasting elegance.

93+ The Wine Advocate

...notes of black currant cordial, baked plums and blackberry preserves with nuances of star anise, dark chocolate and eucalyptus plus a waft of black truffles. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit preserves, featuring ripe, velvety tannins and loads of freshness, finishing with wonderful purity.

93James Suckling

Enticing aromas of ripe berry and orange peel with lavender and some toasted oak, following through to a full body with lots of luscious fruit and a long, flavorful finish.

REGION

United States, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena

St. Helena AVA is at the northern end of Napa Valley just north of Rutherford and south of Calistoga. It is a relatively warm climate thanks to the Mayacamas Mountains on its western edge, which protect it from Pacific Ocean fog. Out of the 9,000 acres in the appellation, some 1,500 are under vine. The principal grapes grown in St. Helena are the Bordeaux grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. St. Helena is considered prime wine producing territory, and it was one of the first important wine producing regions in northern California. The legendary Charles Krug founded his winery just north of the town of St. Helena in 1873, and today the appellation is home to many prestigious producers, including Abreu, Grace Family and Spottswoode.

TYPE

Red Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
