RATINGS

94Wine Enthusiast

Concentrated flavors of white peach and apricot are swirled into hazelnut and sweet cream... Deeper reaching, ephemeral nuances of earth and stone... Fresh and mineral on the finish...

91-93Vinous / IWC

...delineated bouquet of apple blossom, white peach and light flinty aromas...palate is well balanced with a suppleness on the entry. Fine flinty notes, and quite spicy toward the end...very well crafted La Garenne with a lovely saline finish.

90-92The Wine Advocate

Bursting with notes of pear, citrus oil, white flowers and toasted nuts, the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium-bodied, ample and open-knit, with lively acids and a pretty core of fruit.

REGION

France, Burgundy, Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, La Garenne

La Garenne is a 24-acre Premier Cru vineyard in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune. It is up the slope and west of many of the appellation’s Premier Cru vineyards, and in fact wasn’t farmed as a vineyard until the mid-20th century, when the land was cleared of rocks and scrub. The elevation is 300 to 380 meters.

TYPE

White Wine, Chardonnay, 1er (Premier) Cru

This white variety originated in Burgundy, but is now grown around the world. Its flexibility to thrive in many regions translates to wide flavor profile in the market. Chardonnay is commonly used in making Champagne and sparkling wines.
