RATINGS

95Vinous / IWC

... A highly perfumed bouquet exudes red fruit liqueur, cherry pie, potpourri and Asian spice qualities... Deeply concentrated and energetic on the palate, offering sappy, mineral- and spice-laced raspberry, cherry-cola and rose pastille flavors... Conveys an impressive blend of power, delicacy and finishes extremely long and lively, with harmonious tannins and lingering floral and red fruit liqueur notes.

94The Wine Advocate

...lovely notions of tar and scorched earth framing summer violet perfume and black cherries/berries on the nose with a touch of blue fruit appearing with aeration. Medium to full-bodied...with layers of blue and black fruit preserves and perfumed earth, very fine-grained tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and minerally.

94Wine Spectator

Expressive and generous, with lively black raspberry, spice box and orange peel flavors that build rich and elegant layers toward refined tannins.

94James Suckling

A more herbal edge to the nose here with an array of ripe black cherries, as well as strong, oak-derived baking spices. The palate has a very smooth, supple and gently creamy edge and a very detailed array of grainy tannins to close.

94Wine Enthusiast

... Intensely aromatic with complex suggestions of toast, spice and sandalwood...red and blue berry fruit flavors are framed with citrusy acidity, and the extended finish somehow conjures up salted caramel...

17Jancis Robinson

Strapping scent. Quite powerful. Meaty and lively. Côte de Nuits style. Real warmth and warm stones here. Peacock’s tail finish.

REGION

United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Dundee Hills AVA is in Yamhill County, and it is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, Oregon’s best known appellation. Dundee Hills is about 30 miles southwest of Portland, and has 1,300 vineyard acres. It was awarded AVA status in 2004 and, like much of Oregon, is known for Pinot Noir. Several of Oregon’s 20th century wine pioneers established their vineyards and wineries in Dundee Hills, adding to its status as a region long-recognized for producing high quality, iconic Oregon wines. Eyrie Vineyards, Erath Winery and Sokol Blosser remain some of Oregon’s most celebrated producers, and all were founded in what is now Dundee Hills in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

TYPE

Red Wine, Pinot Noir

This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
