RATINGS

94Wine Enthusiast

...floral lavender, smoke and gamy meat...body is concentrated in ripeness and grip...

93Jeb Dunnuck

...plenty of bacon fat and floral notes intermixed with pretty blackberry and raspberry fruit...medium-bodied, seamless, and elegant, with terrific complexity.

91Vinous / IWC

Rich and exuberant in the glass...possesses terrific fruit density and texture. Inky blue/purplish fruit, cloves, lavender and new leather all develop nicely in the glass.

90The Wine Advocate

...scented of black cherries, mulberries and warm black plums with notions of peppercorns, violets and garrigue plus a touch of black olives. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and with a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins...lively peppery lift on the finish.

REGION

United States, California, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast AVA runs from San Pablo Bay in the south to Mendocino County in the north. It includes 7,000 vineyard acres and earned AVA status in 1987. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean means it gets double the rainfall of nearby inland appellations and the ocean gives the appellation a relatively cool climate. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can thrive in these conditions, and there are numerous producers making critically acclaimed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

TYPE

Red Wine, Syrah (Shiraz)

This grape is grown in milder climates and produces a medium-to full-bodied wine. It is also known as Shiraz, but should not be confused with Petit Sirah, which was developed by crossing Syrah with Peloursin.
